    Student will work in pair. Each pair will spend two half days in a research lab together with a researcher.

Objectifs et compétences

Objectifs :
The course will provide an overview of different current research topics in cellular neuroscience. Researchers will give seminars with their recent data preceded by an extensive introduction to their topic and their approaches. During the assisted work sessions, student will analyze recent papers with an innovative approach, aimed to develop data interpretation skills and critical mind. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to analyze and understand the neuronal and brain functions at the cellular and subcellular levels; to describe the use, limits and interest of different approaches (anatomy, genetics, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry) to the study of neuronal and glial functions and the analysis of primary mechanisms.

  • Understand the main ideas of complex text written in English
  • Work in a transversal, multidisciplinary way and participate in team effort in an international environment
  • Communicate effectively in English and native language on the procedures followed and the results yielded by experiments with the matching interpretation to diverse audiences using a range of media (from research papers to public communications)
  • Examine their own practice at all levels in a critical manner and modify accordingly, including find appropriate information and counselling to do so.

  • Master the foundations of modern Neurosciences
  • Have in-depth knowledge of at least one specialized Neurosciences field
  • Apply the basic technical approaches of Neurosciences 4.1 Neuroanatomy 4.2 Neurophysiology 4.3 Cellular & molecular neurosciences 4.4 Neuropharmacology 4.5 Behavioural approaches
  • Have a general, precise and critical overview of the fields of Neurosciences, in all their aspects, from normal functioning to brain diseases and in adjacent fields (Physiology, Biology, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science) 2.1 Functional neuroanatomy 2.2 Neurodevelopment 2.3 Molecular and cellular Neurobiology 2.4 Neurogenetics and neurogenomics 2.5 Neurophysiology and cell imaging 2.6 Neuropharmacology 2.7 System neurosciences 2.8 Behavioural & cognitive neurosciences 2.9 Neuroendocrinology and neuro-immunology 2.10 Computational and theoretical neurosciences
  • Name the technical approaches of Neurosciences, explain their theoretical groundings and know when to use them
